Soul Grind Coffee Roasters: A Pacifica Gem with Espresso and Ocean Vibes

My discovery of Soul Grind Coffee was a happy accident. It all started with an amazing double shot of espresso at the University of San Francisco's Cafe Central on their Parnassus campus. I told the barista about it and he revealed the source of those magic beans: a local roastery in Pacifica called Soul Grind. I was like, "No way!", having spent my own school days in that very town. He pointed me towards Linda Mar, a familiar stomping ground, and that weekend, I embarked on a coffee pilgrimage.

Tucked away in a strip mall right after the Taco Bell, Soul Grind quickly became my go-to spot, not just for their expertly roasted beans, but for the entire experience. While the lot offers ample motorcycle parking, I usually opt for the unused space near the front, a habit born from years of prioritizing a quick getaway πŸ˜‰, anyone else always back-in to a spot?

β€œThe space between spots”

Stepping inside, you're greeted by a lofty, open space with a captivating mural adorning the wall. Natural light floods in, accentuated by a roll-up door that opens to a welcoming patio. There's a second patio in the back for those seeking a more secluded escape. Plenty of seating options cater to solo coffee contemplation, group gatherings, or even those seeking a productive workspace.

I love how warm this lighting feels on a normal foggy Pacifica day.

My usual order? A double shot of espresso, their rich, dark nectar, paired with their smoked salmon. If you find yourself there in the morning, I highly recommend their quiche. Flaky, savory, and utterly satisfying, it pairs perfectly with a cozy spot in front of their fireplace. It was such a vibe when I went there one morning, the warmth, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, and the crackling fire, i almost wished I had a cozy blanket. And for those who like to work remotely, fear not – there are multiple plugs conveniently placed throughout the cafe.

Soul Grind is more than just a coffee shop; it's a community hub, a place where locals and visitors alike gather to connect, create, and recharge. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, always ready with a smile and a coffee recommendation. Whether you're a coffee aficionado, a casual caffeine seeker, or simply looking for a welcoming space to unwind, Soul Grind has something for everyone. It's a true testament to the vibrant spirit of Pacifica and that is a fact as the line sometimes goes around the building!
