Motoring Coffee: A Solid Choice for Coffee and Coworking in Cow Hollow

As someone who practically lives in cafes, I'm always on the hunt for new spots to work, grab a coffee, and soak up some atmosphere. Motoring Coffee, the recently opened cafe on Union Street, definitely makes the cut for my list of go-to spots in San Francisco.

It's not your average coffee shop. Sure, they have the essentials – good coffee (I'm a sucker for their double shot espresso, especially since you can bring your own cup!), reliable wifi, and plenty of seating. But what sets Motoring Coffee apart is its unique blend of automotive cool and functional workspace.

Love the bag on this.

Walking in, you're greeted by a sleek motorcycle displayed by the window, often accompanied by a rotating selection of vintage or unique cars. It's a nice touch that adds a bit of personality to the space, especially for car enthusiasts. And if you happen to be there on a Formula 1 race morning, you'll likely find the race projected on the wall, adding an extra layer of energy to the cafe.

The cafe itself is spacious and well-designed. There's a mix of seating options, from individual tables to communal workspaces, and even a quirky vintage van converted into a private work nook. The large windows flood the space with natural light, creating a bright and inviting atmosphere.

On my visits, I've noticed a diverse crowd – freelancers tapping away on laptops, friends catching up over coffee, and the occasional car enthusiast admiring the latest vehicle on display. It's a place where you can focus on work while still enjoying a bit of a buzz around you.

While the coffee is solid, don't expect an extensive menu of specialty drinks or elaborate latte art. Motoring Coffee keeps it simple with a focus on quality coffee and a few pastries.

One thing to note is that Motoring Coffee is part of The Motoring Club, a social club for car enthusiasts. You can get a peek into their members-only lounge through a window, which adds a touch of exclusivity to the vibe.

Overall, Motoring Coffee is a solid option for anyone looking for a cafe with a unique twist. It's a great place to get work done, enjoy a good cup of coffee (sustainably, in your own cup!), catch the F1 action, and soak up the automotive-inspired atmosphere. While it might not be the most groundbreaking cafe in San Francisco, it's definitely one I'll be returning to.
